Always remove stains promptly; delaying may cause permanent staining.
Below is a guide to clean-up of some common stains and spills to vinyl
flooring:
Apply a small amount of the first listed solution to a white cloth
(unless otherwise specified) and wipe. Never flood the floor with
excessive water or cleaner/solution. Rotate the cloth to avoid spreading
the stain. Removal of the stain may take several repeated efforts.
If some stain still remains, use the next cleaning solution. DO ONLY
THE PROCEDURES NECESSARY TO REMOVE THE STAIN AND ALWAYS ALLOW MOISTURE
TO DRY BETWEEN PROCEDURES.
Once
the spill/stain is completely removed, rinse the area with cold water
and blot with a dry cloth until the moisture is removed.
WHEN
IN DOUBT, CALL A PROFESSIONAL. ALWAYS CONSIDER CONSULTING A PROFESSIONAL.
SOLUTIONS: Always wash solution residue with warm water. Neglecting
this may cause further soiling. A mist sprayer is recommended to prevent
oversaturation. Blot with paper towels or napkins and pat dry after
each rinsing.
NON-ABRASIVE CLEANER: manufacturer-recommended cleaners such as Armstrong
cleaners, Mannington cleaners, etc.; apply with a white non-abrasive
nylon pad or stiff bristle brush.
ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL: rubbing alcohol.
NAIL POLISH REMOVER: There are two types: (1) acetone, a dry cleaning
solvent, and (2) amyl acetate; when using this type, always rinse
area thoroughly with dry solvent.
LIQUID BLEACH: Use a 10-to-1 dilution of water to liquid bleach;
DO NOT let solution sit for more than 1 hour.
CAUTION: Isopropyl alcohol, lighter fluid, mineral spirits, paint
thinner, and bleach are dangerous, possibly flammable products. Exercise
caution when working with them and always follow instructions on the
containers.
KEEP ALL TRAFFIC OFF AFFECTED AREAS FOR AT LEAST 30 MINUTES.
